Fishing Colwyn

Victoria Pier at Colwyn Bay can only be fished 2 hours either side of High Water when the tide reaches the pier. The fee for daytime fishing is £1 and for night-time it is £1.50. The pier is always open for daytime fishing but whether it is open for night-time fishing is dependant on the times for High Water. If in doubt, phone Ray of Victoria Pier Angling on 01492 530 663.

Fishing from the beach puts your bait in shallow water which is why most anglers prefer fishing from the pier or the prom at high water if they're after whiting or cod, however the beach at low water is a very good mark for bass, especially at dawn or dusk. Best baits for this are peeler crab, rag or lug.

Charter Boat Fishing

Colwyn is a major harbour for charter boats with excellent fishing marks a short steam away. Wrecks, reefs and offshore sandbanks provide a wide variety of fish species and the sheltered geographical position ensures that less trips are cancelled due to high seas. Victoria Pier Angling can provide you with bait, rod & reel hire and we even organise a charter boat for you if you wish. Phone 01492 530 663 for further details.

Colwyn Promenade, like the pier, can only be fished 2 hours either side of High Water. Some anglers however, fish the beach on the flood tide from Low Water up, eventually ending up on the prom. Fishing from the prom is very comfortable and you can practically fish from your car. Even a moderate cast puts your bait in deep water. A very popular venue when the whiting and codling arrive. Favourite bait here is a worm and mackerel cocktail for whiting or worm and squid cocktail for cod.
